Firefighting equipment is one of the fields where wire-based analog technology is still strong even in the digital age. Most of the firefighting equipment, such as fire detectors on the ceilings of buildings, alarms that signal danger, and sprinklers used to extinguish fires in the first place, are almost the same as they were in the past.

In the fire protection equipment market, notable changes are taking place recently. In particular, the fire detector market, which sells 15 million units a year, is unusual. Established in 2015, Rozetatech (CEO Cho Young-jin), an industrial IoTspecialist, is leading the change. The company is shaking up the market by introducing IoT-based wireless technology to the wired-oriented fire detector market, which used to be like a fortress.

Rozetatech's main product is 'SmartCol', an intelligent fire detector. It is a technology that notifies the occurrence of a fire by itself and activates fire-fighting equipment such as sprinklers. With IoT-based wireless technology, human intervention is unnecessary and there is no concern about malfunction due to wire short circuit.

Rozetatech is ahead of its first sales of 10 billion won this year. Compared to last year, when it was only 6 billion won, the amount has doubled. The order backlog is growing even faster. The current order backlog is around 80 billion won. Cho Young-jin, CEO confidently said, "By the end of this year, the order backlog will increase to 300 billion won, and next year, new orders will reach 500 billion won. Two years later, we will be able to secure about 800 billion won of work." This is thanks to targeting the redevelopment/reconstruction market, which is a premium market, instead of general apartments. Rozetatechperforms equipment, solutions, and construction, is sweeping the wireless fire detection equipment market in the redevelopment and reconstruction fields such as Gangnam, Seoul and Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi, by winning contracts worth 30 billion won at redevelopment sites in Gyeongnam.

Wireless fire detectors are slightly more expensive than wired ones, but they are simple to install and easy to maintain. Above all, it analyzes real-time data sent from various detectors to set the golden time for fire suppression. CEO Cho said, “Smart Call also informs the optimal evacuation route in case of fire through simulation using Digital Twin technology. “We focused on minimizing further damage, rather than simply notifying the danger.”

Rozetatech's growth is still ongoing. It has expanded beyond the traditional market to the apartment redevelopment and reconstruction market, and plans to expand to smart cities in the future. In particular, we are developing a technology to directly design a micro control unit (MCU) that is used in wireless fire detectors.
